Code of conduct

License This Code of Conduct (CoC) is distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license.

This is a beta version, not a complete code. It is not a rulebook but serves to distill our common understanding of collaboration, shared interests, and goals. We expect it to be followed in both spirit and letter. Parts of the text are derived from the Codes of Conduct of Django, JornadasDar, Geek Feminism, P2P, Hacktivistas, and Ubuntu. This CoC, drafted by Digitalfems, applies to events it organizes or co-produces.

The primary goal of this code of conduct is to establish clear behavior standards and expectations, ensuring that participants in any Digitalfems-produced or facilitated event, physical or online, can feel safe. These standards aim to promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants.

Expectations of Participants

  • Respect and Inclusivity: Treat everyone with respect, avoiding discriminatory language and behavior. Foster an inclusive environment.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a professional attitude. Refrain from any form of harassment.
  • Collaboration and Support: Encourage open communication and collaboration. Offer constructive feedback and support.
  • Integrity: Act with honesty and integrity. Respect intellectual property and confidentiality.
  • Compliance: Follow all event guidelines and local laws. Report any violations to the appropriate authorities.

If you experience or notice harassment or any violent situation, contact the event organization team immediately. The staff will assist in contacting organizers, provide escorts, or help anyone feeling unsafe. Participants are expected to follow these rules during Gender Music Tech and related social events. This code outlines our expectations and the consequences of unacceptable behavior.

Participants should:

  • Engage authentically and actively.
  • Show consideration and respect in speech and actions.
  • Seek collaboration over conflict.
  • Respect differing opinions and understand there is rarely a single correct answer.

Note that by attending our events, you may be photographed or recorded. If you use a “No photos or videos” sticker, the official photographer will respect it for close-ups.
